Hi, I’m Alice 👋

I’m a UX/UI designer, passionate about bridging the gap between humans and emerging technology. I’ve been designing digital products, brands, websites and services for the past 3+ years, mostly for early-stage startups.

Here’s how we got here…

2019

Once upon a time, I was a programmer.

Coming from a degree in computer science and graphic design, I’ve always found joy in tinkering with the latest software to create things that not only look good, but work well.

2020

Then, I decided that it was more important to build software that was actually useful and usable.

I discovered there was a different path, a different career… Where you could not only build cool things, but speak to and hear from the people you were building for.

2021

So, I chased my curiosity and began teaching myself UX.

I spent my time outside of class during Covid-19 lockdowns watching Skillshare videos and doing my own passion projects.

I practised, and practised, and practised designing... until I was confident to call myself a UX designer.

2022

I kicked off my career as a product designer in the startup space...

I was lucky enough to join not one, but two local startups as a product designer, shipping 0→1 features to entire platform upgrades while building design systems and processes from scratch.

2023

I tackled the multinational tech behemoths too…

Most recently, I was an Innovation Designer at IBM, where I helped some of Australia’s largest enterprises and Fortune 500 companies implement state-of-the-art generative AI solutions in their severely outdated workflows.

2024

And am now running my own design business!

I’ve been in the UX industry for 3 years now—starting from nothing, now running my own freelance design business. So far I’ve helped 20+ startups (and counting!) stand out from the crowd through kickass product, web and digital design.

Values I live by

Challenge your assumptions

A new role, new workplace, or new project always involves new problems. If you only care about how you’ve solved a problem before, or “how everyone else is doing it”, you’re not giving yourself room to see other perspectives.

Have empathy

Have empathy for your users; have empathy for your teammates and friends; have empathy for people you don’t know; and have empathy for those you do. You cannot possibly assume that everyone thinks the same way as you.

Fail hard, learn fast

My best learning comes from going outside of my comfort zone, and doing things I’m not qualified for. My proudest achievements in my career are ones I’ve screwed up first time ‘round, and then learnt very quickly how to do better next time.

Do meaningful work

Having familiarity working in lean startup teams has taught me to value my impact on individual people over the prestige of the company I’m employed by. I like to take on opportunities where I’m able to make a real difference on people’s lives.

Do these values resonate with you?

If you’re a believer in lifelong learning, collaborative problem-solving, and building things bigger than yourself, then let’s work together.
